I'm not much of a joiner.  I'm wary of getting wrapped up in any particular identity, whether it's Activist, Artist, Vegan, Buddhist, Salesman, Pacifist, Writer or whatnot (I do, however, unabashedly love the word “whatnot”).  All of the above are true to some of my habits and actions, but I'm not likely to join an activist group, or even a Buddhist sangha.  My activism is mostly personal, borne out in the way I live and the ideas I put forward. 

Demonstration, lobbying and litigation have their place, but what I see lacking (not entirely, but respectively) is a willingness to do the work of civilization, to create  more functional and more desirable alternatives to the diseased, assembly-line monoculture.
